The laptops arrive and I'm dizzy
After 13 days of waiting patiently, the new Dell Laptops arrived today. Overall I'm a little disappointed, especially with their displays.
I specially ordered the more expensive UltraSharp 15" displays which Dell claims "provide incredible screen clarity with high contrast & wide viewing angles." However I've found them washed out and unappealing especially when set to readable screen resolutions of 1280x1024. UltraSharp they're not!
On the positive side they are noticeably lighter than my other older Dell 15" screen laptops. I also really like that they moved the CD-RW/DVD to a fixed bay and that the 3.5 drive is swappable with the secondary battery. It was always a pain in the neck to have to decide between more battery life or leaving the CD and DVDs at home.
Speaking of pains in the neck I also made another purchase today.
I had to make a Costco run this afternoon for some supplies for the bowling center. While on the way in I noticed they had these Conair Heated Massaging Neck Rests. Since they were only $14.99 I decided to picked one up for Ha-Has.
I've never been much of a fan of any vibrating messaging things but I needed something for my neck because it's always getting sore while I'm working at the computer for extended periods during the evening.
Anxious to test it out I headed to the computer with the neck rest in hand. After just 2 minutes of using the messaging action and heat I felt really nauseous and dizzy from the vibration. I stood up to get some water and I seriously felt like I might faint so I had to quickly return to my chair. Luckily, the feeling passed after about 30 minutes.
I decided to try it using only the heat and without the message and that was actually comfortable and relaxing. If Conair would completely remove the massage feature this would actually be an excellent product. Otherwise it's just plain dangerous.
