New Google Tricks

Google has quietly introduced a few (very cool) new features that most people are not aware of.
  • Calculator
Google has added a calculator and converter to its standard search form. Just enter what you need calculated or converted, click on search, and it'll automatically display the results. Very cool and useful!
  • News Alerts
Google will email you when Google News finds a new story on a topic you're interested in.
  • Synonym Search
You may want to search not only for a particular keyword, but also for its synonyms. Indicate a search for both by placing the tilde sign ("~") immediately in front of the keyword. Extremely useful!
  • Advanced News Search
Everyones been able to run advanced searches on Google for sometime but Google News lacked this functionality until recently.
  • Froogle!
Froogle is quickly becoming my favorite feature on Google. Although its been around a while very few people seem to know about it. Froogle allows you to search for a particular product and find it on web stores all over the web. Unlike MySimon, CNET Shopping, ETC, it isn't overloaded with ads and popups.
  • Google Zeitgeist
Not new, but still cool, Zeitgeist displays search patterns, trends, and surprises.
