Google Reader Trends; Another Step Toward Digg?

Things are starting to get very interesting and cool at Google Reader. If I were at Digg, I'd be watching this closely and maybe getting a little nervous!

The Official Google Reader Blog announced Google Reader Trends today.

A link to this new page is almost easily missed on Reader's "Home" page. There you will find that it displays graphs and trends for the items that a person reads and the feeds they are subscribed to. Even a neat tag cloud tracking how often a tag is used and how often you read items with those tags.

Currently, there are no hints that Google is planning on sharing these very useful stats with others. But the Trends page defiantly gives a hint to some of the VERY VERY powerful statistics Google is already keeping track of, and if applied in aggregate they could also be used for the "Digg Killer!"
