AT&T Wireless Coming To Vermont?

I've received word from a friend (who is in a position to have reliable information) that AT&T Wireless just may expanding their wireless service to Vermont as part of the Vermont EState plan.

This would be fantastic news IF it was happening this summer. Unfortunately, it'll take at least another 12-18 months.

So if you're a Vermonter and you'd like to get an Apple iPhone this summer you will have to go through the trouble of getting a post office box in another state that AT&T Wireless services and then you'd have to purchase the phone there and have a phone number in that state just to trick AT T Wireless in to selling you one. What a pain!

I had a Cingular contract that was canceled by Cingular when I used my phone too much in Vermont a few years ago while I was on a consulting job up in Burlington...that really sucked! I don't know if that policy still exists under ATT but if it does then even if you have a PO box in a different state you might end up with a iPhone and no service after 3 months of exclusive use inside Vermont until the transfer actually occurs. Has anyone else experienced this? I am very psyched to hear that ATT will be coming to vermont. I hope that Verizon/Unicel gives me a chance to switch to ATT!
