Lost inside games

I'm not much of a gamer. When I do find some free time to play games I'm drawn mostly to Real Time Strategies and tend to stay away from First Person Shooters. I can easily get lost playing Stronghold, C&C Red Alert 2, or C&C Yuri's Revenge over night until the sun rises. The last time I played a First Person Shooter was when Doom II came out (probably 8 or 9 years ago!)

The other day I downloaded the demo for Unreal Tournament 2003 on a friends recommendation. I played it very briefly tonight, I had no idea what I was doing but I certainly noticed how much First Person Shooters have improved. The graphics were phenomenal at 1600 x 1200. It was almost too realistic.

I didn't do that well in the game. I actually set a new record for sucking as I was killed within 20 seconds. Is there a UT2003 for Dummies book out there?
